Multiple accounts of the same app in Claude — one MCP server
Most MCP servers and connectors are built for one account: one Slack workspace, one Jira site, one Google login. That breaks the moment you freelance for two clients, hold two jobs, or keep work and side projects apart.
The fix is a multi-account MCP server: it keeps a connection per account and lets Claude choose the account in each tool call. Here is how that works and how to set it up.
The problem with one server per account
You can register the same server several times under different names, but then:
- every app × every account is another server to install, authorize and keep logged in;
- tools are duplicated (
slack-a.send_message,slack-b.send_message…), which crowds the model's context; - a task that spans accounts — "read the Jira ticket at job A, tell the team on Slack at job B" — needs Claude to juggle several servers;
- it only works in clients that let you rename servers freely.
How a multi-account MCP server works
Goptin connects each account once (OAuth in the app) and exposes one tool set. list_accounts returns everything you connected; every other tool takes an account argument — an id or a fragment of the name like "slack job b".
Tools available today:
list_conversations,read_conversation,search_messages,send_message— Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat;list_tickets,get_ticket,update_ticket,comment_ticket— Jira and ClickUp;get_digest,list_tasks,create_task,complete_task— the daily digest and your to-do list across all accounts.
Setup
- 1Connect your accountsIn Goptin → Connections, connect each account — several per app is fine — and group them into workspaces like "Job A" and "Job B".
- 2Create a tokenSettings → Integrations → create a token (shown once, revocable).
- 3Add the server to your clientClaude Code below; copy-paste configs for Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex, Gemini CLI and Claude Desktop are in Settings → Integrations and on the MCP page.
claude mcp add --transport http goptin https://app.goptin.com/mcp --scope user --header "Authorization: Bearer goptin_…"
- 4Work across accounts in one prompt"Check my Jira tickets at job A that moved to review today and post a summary in #standup on Slack job B."
FAQ
Which apps support several accounts?
Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Jira and ClickUp — connect as many accounts of each as you need. Facebook Pages, Instagram and WhatsApp Business are in beta.
Can I limit a project to one company's accounts?
Add the server with --scope local inside that project and tell Claude which accounts to use in the project's CLAUDE.md (for example: only use the job A Slack and ClickUp accounts).
Is my data safe?
Tokens are stored only as SHA-256 hashes and can be revoked instantly; channel credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Messages and ticket changes are only sent when you approve the tool call.
Do I need a paid plan?
No — the MCP server is included in the 14-day free trial and in every plan.
No card needed. Works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Windsurf.
